Tax Benefits
Employer contributions towards the premiums payable to a health plan are tax deductible by the employer, while health benefits to employees are tax free. Short and long-term disability benefits are payable tax free to the employee if he or she has paid 100% of the disability premiums. Employers with a registered weekly indemnity program can obtain a partial rebate on their employment insurance premium payments.
